Man U, Liverpool or Chelsea, or even Villa or Arsenal for the Premiership title?

Asked by Mahesh Kumar in Cricket & Other Sports at   9:09 PM on January 13, 2009

bapisatya's Answer

I think Liverpool might just do it, i hope not though i am an evertonian and would rather see man utd do it again but i think liverpool will just scrape it. And they will be someone different as they have never won the premier league before.

Which is the quickest completed test match in cricket in terms of time?

Asked by Jay Deep in Cricket & Other Sports at   7:58 PM on January 13, 2009

bapisatya's Answer

The shortest test match in terms of time was England vs Australia played on 28th August 1882. The match was completed in under 2 days.

The shortest Test, in terms of balls bowled, that had a definite result came in the final Test of the 1931-32 series at Melbourne, when Australia (153) beat South Africa (36 and 45) by an innings and 72 runs. That match lasted only 656 balls, just edging out West Indies v England at Bridgetown in 1934-35, which lasted 16 balls longer.

The shortest Test in which there was any play at all was the abandoned West Indies-England Test at Kingston in 1997-98, which was called after 61 balls, during which time England limped to 17 for 3.

Who will be the key players for England and Australia in the 2009 ashes?

Asked by Jay Deep in Cricket & Other Sports at   7:55 PM on January 13, 2009

bapisatya's Answer

It will be most important for England's batting that Ian Bell performs well. I think Peterson scoring runs is a given but Bell must make some big scores at 3 and stop Australia from gathering momentum with double breakthroughs after capturing an opener. By shoring up the top of the order it means Peterson can come in and play his natural game. For the same reason Cook will be a key.

Monty Panesar must trouble the top order & Flintoff's command of reverse swing will be the key to restricting the piles of runs the Aussie tale have contributed lately.

For Australia, Johnson and Siddle remaining fit will be most important. There are plenty of options with the bat if our batters misfire but those two need to take bags of wickets if we are going to have a chance. Mike Hussey is the key batsman as he must regain top form and this should be the perfect place as a master of English conditions.

Is David Warner or Paul Duminy who will be the New Cricketing Sensation 2009?

Asked by Jay Deep in Cricket & Other Sports at   7:56 PM on January 13, 2009

bapisatya's Answer

Each will be a huge star for their country.

But the thing is Jean Paul Duminy will play all 3 codes of cricket (T20, ODI and Test) this year and if he keeps this form he will be a superstar for SA

But i think warner will only play T20 and ODI for the next few years and move into the test team once he plays more shield cricket...he hasn't even played a four dayer for NSW!! I think Warner will make a great lower order agressive batsmen like Haddin and even more so Gilchrist in tests.

I need help controling swing? whenever i bowl with a new ball i can not control the swing I try bowling straight and most of the time its a wide ?

Asked by Jay Deep in Cricket & Other Sports at   7:51 PM on January 13, 2009

bapisatya's Answer

The swing of the ball is not always the result of the ball's condition it can also vary depending on the bowler's action. Try to keep the fingers straight up and down the seam and get your arm up higher and not round-arm. Be sure to follow through releasing the ball a little later in your action but no so late that you lose that line and length. Good luck!

Who will take Matthew Haydens TEST position?

Asked by Jay Deep in Cricket & Other Sports at   7:52 PM on January 13, 2009

bapisatya's Answer

Phil Jaques
Chris Rogers
Philip Hughes

These players are very successful at domestic level and should be given a go. Shaun Marsh is not ready yet, as he only averages 35 in first class cricket. The least likely are ones like Michael Klinger.
