Michael Llodra and Fabrice Santoro. The French team of Llodra and Santoro won the Australian Open men's doubles for the second year in a row, beating the Bryan twins in the final.

Nenad Zimonjic and Elena Bovina. I'd never heard of them either, but the mixed doubles were won by Zimonjic of Serbia and Bovina of Russia. They beat Paes and Navratilova 6-1, 7-6 in the final.

151. In October 2004 against India in India, Clarke smashed 151 on debut, and he was Man of the Match. Gilchrist batted with him and scored 104. Ponting mad 96 in his debut test.

Justine Henin-Hardenne. Justine Henin-Hardenne, the top seed, won her third Grand Slam tournament. She defeated her countrywoman Kim Clijsters in all three! Venus Williams lost in the third round to fellow American Lisa Raymond. Serena Williams, the 2003 champion, did not play.

464*. HUGE effort from the best twins ever to play cricket. It was for NSW against WA in 1990-91 season. Steve scored 216 not out and Mark was 229 not out. They could have kept going but declared after bringing up the 600.

M Waugh. M Hayden 181*, M Waugh 173, A Gilchrist 172, are the highest three scores. D Jones has the 10th highest score by an Aussie with 145. Hayden has 3 scores in the top 10, Gilchrist and Symonds have 2. Mark Waugh's 173 was the record for a long time before Hayden passed it.

John M. Laing. John represented Canada on 13 occasions and took a total of 77 wickets. His Hat-Trick came against U.S.A in 1895 when he clean bowled W. Sharp, S. Goodman and L.K. Mallinkrodt. Pretty impressive!

A referendum in South Africa. In March 1992, white South Africans went to the polls to vote on their approval for President FW de Klerk to continue on his path of reform. The South African team openly supported the reforms and urged the voting public to vote accordingly. Fortunately, the vote was an overwhelming 'Yes'.
