Copy protection -- what does mean????

Asked by arun nair in Computers & Technology at   8:38 AM on December 01, 2008

Sudipta Deb's Answer

Copy protection, also known as content protection, copy prevention, or copy restriction, is a technology for preventing the unauthorised reproduction of copyrighted software, movies, music, and other media.
Media corporations have always used the term copy protection, but critics argue that the term tends to sway the public into identifying with the publishers, who favor restriction technologies, rather than with the users.[2] Copy prevention and copy control may be more neutral terms. "Copy protection" is a misnomer for some systems, because any number of copies can be made from an original and all of these copies will work, but only in one computer, or only with one dongle, or only with another device that cannot be easily copied.
The term is also often related to and/or confused with the concept of digital rights management. Digital rights management is a more general term because it includes all sorts of management of works, including copy restrictions. Copy protection may include measures that are not digital. A more likely description to this is "technical protection measures" (TPM), which is often defined as the use of technological tools in order to restrict the use and/or access to a work.

What is Cron plese explain?

Asked by Abhijit Naya in Computers & Technology at   8:45 AM on December 01, 2008

Sudipta Deb's Answer

Cron is the name of program that enables unix users to execute commands or scripts (groups of commands) automatically at a specified time/date. It is normally used for sys admin commands, like makewhatis, which builds a search database for the man -k command, or for running a backup script, but can be used for anything. A common use for it today is connecting to the internet and downloading your email.
cron is driven by a crontab, a configuration file that specifies shell commands to run periodically on a given schedule.
Early versions of cron, available up through Version 7 Unix and 32V, made their services available only to the super-user of the operating system; this was the single-user version. With the release of Unix System V and the multi-user cron, these services were extended to all account-holding users of the system.

is there any software to open DAA FILE? PLZ TELL WEBSITE TO DOWNLOAD FOR FREE?

Asked by Implore I in Computers & Technology at   12:13 AM on October 25, 2008

Sudipta Deb's Answer

DAA file is a format for an CD/DVD image file (ISO image), which supports some advanced features, such as compression, password protection, and splitting to multiple volumes (similar to .RAR and other compression formats).
Direct Access Archive, or DAA file, is a proprietary file format for disk image files which supports advanced features such as compression, password protection, and splitting to multiple volumes. It can be handled directly just like other formats, such as an ISO image and BIN, but is currently only usable by PowerISO software. Popular disk image mounting programs such as Alcohol 120% and DAEMON Tools currently do not support the mounting of DAA images.

Currently there is no information about the format available in order to program third party implementation to read or write DAA format. Binary-only applications for Windows & Linux (limited version) are available from PowerISO.

You will get the PowerISO softwares in the website katz.cd. Search for the software in the application section and get the full version or key of the software Power ISO

Microsoft Exchange Server- what is it??

Asked by Lakshmi s in Computers & Technology at   9:47 PM on November 28, 2008

Sudipta Deb's Answer

Microsoft Exchange Server is a messaging and collaborative software product developed by Microsoft. It is part of the Microsoft Servers line of server products and is widely used by enterprises using Microsoft infrastructure solutions. Exchange's major features consist of electronic mail, calendaring, contacts and tasks; support for mobile and web-based access to information; and support for data storage.
Exchange Server 2003 (v6.5) debuted on September 28, 2003. Exchange Server 2003 (currently at Service Pack 2) can be run on Windows 2000 Server (only if Service Pack 4 is first installed) and 32-bit Windows Server 2003, although some new features only work with the latter. Like Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003 has many compatibility modes to allow users to slowly migrate to the new system. This is useful in large companies with distributed Exchange Server environments who cannot afford the downtime and expense that comes with a complete migration.
One of the new features in Exchange Server 2003 is enhanced disaster recovery which allows administrators to bring the server online quicker. This is done by allowing the server to send and receive mail while the message stores are being recovered from backup. Some features previously available in the Microsoft Mobile Information Server 2001/2002 products have been added to the core Exchange Server product, like Outlook Mobile Access and server-side ActiveSync, while the Mobile Information Server product itself has been dropped. Better anti-virus and anti-spam protection have also been added, both by providing built-in APIs that facilitate filtering software and built-in support for the basic methods of originating IP address, SPF ("Sender ID"), and DNSBL filtering which were standard on other open source and *nix-based mail servers. Also new is the ability to drop inbound e-mail before being fully processed, thus preventing delays in the message routing system. There are also improved message and mailbox management tools, which allow administrators to execute common chores more quickly. Others, such as Instant Messaging and Exchange Conferencing Server have been extracted completely in order to form separate products. Microsoft now appears to be positioning a combination of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Live Communications Server, Live Meeting and Sharepoint as its collaboration software of choice. Exchange Server is now to be simply e-mail and calendaring.

What is Outlook Web Access??

Asked by Lakshmi s in Computers & Technology at   9:49 PM on November 28, 2008

Sudipta Deb's Answer

Outlook Web Access (OWA) originally called Exchange Web Connect (EWC), is a webmail service of Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0 and later. The web interface of Outlook Web Access resembles the interface in Microsoft Outlook. Outlook Web Access comes as a part of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and previous versions of Exchange.
OWA is used to access e-mail (including support for S/MIME), calendars, contacts, tasks, and other mailbox content when access to the Microsoft Outlook desktop application is unavailable. In the Exchange 2007 release, OWA also offers read-only access to documents stored in Microsoft SharePoint sites and network (UNC) shares. Microsoft provides Outlook Web Access as part of Exchange Server to allow users to connect remotely via a web browser. Some of the functionality in Outlook is also available in this web "look-alike". The most important difference is that Microsoft Outlook allows users to work with e-mail, calendars, etc., even when a network connection is unavailable, whereas OWA requires a network connection to function. OWA can be used from Internet cafes and any other location that provides connectivity to the Web.

how can i designe my own website

Asked by somidip saha in Computers & Technology at   4:03 AM on October 25, 2008

Sudipta Deb's Answer

The easiest way for a novice to build a web site is to start with a web template. Web Templates can be customized and you can use the layout but swap the graphics etc.... this will get you comfortable with basic HTML design and an HTML editor (like Dreamweaver).

Here are some resources for free or inexpensive templates that are easy to edit and manage.

Webmaster Templates - http://www.webmaster-templates .net
Free Web Templates - http://www.freewebtemplates.co m/
Web Design Elements - http://www.webdesign-elements. com
Free Website Templates - http://www.freewebsitetemplate s.com/
Free Layouts - http://www.freelayouts.com/
F ree Templates Online - http://www.freetemplatesonline .com

HTML website templates can significantly ease the burden of designing and creating websites by providing webmasters with a ready-made web layout, structure, basic graphics, and color scheme.

The templates can generally be edited and customized with any HTML editor. The biggest advantage for webmasters using ready-made templates is the amount of time that can be saved.
