What is Relational aggression?

Asked by Amrita Ravi in Self Development at   11:05 AM

Karthick Ar's Answer

Relational aggression is described as any behavior that is intended to harm someone by damaging or manipulating relationships with others. Unlike other types of bullying, relational aggression is not as overt, or noticeable as physical aggression. However, the effects can be long lasting. It covertly manipulates how others view a particular individual by isolating them, spreading (or posting) vicious rumors and lies about their private lives, exposing secrets, and thriving on this cruelty. Studies have shown that males tend to use more physical aggression and victimization than females. Both boys and girls intend to inflict harm but there are differences in how they express these feelings. Females tend to use more covert forms of aggression to express their anger. Relational Aggression is a form of emotional and psychological violence which usually leaves its victims in a no-win situation.

What is Perception ?

Asked by Amrita Ravi in Self Development at   11:07 AM

Karthick Ar's Answer

Perception is our sensory experience of the world around us and involves both the recognition of environmental stimuli and actions in response to these stimuli. Through the perceptual process, we gain information about properties and elements of the environment that are critical to our survival. Perception not only creates our experience of the world around us; it allows us to act within our environment. For further elaborate details on perception, refer to the source:

What is the purpose of DMA controller?

Asked Anonymously in Computers & Accessories at   7:19 PM on December 03, 2008

Karthick Ar's Answer

In general, Direct memory access (DMA) provides a way for devices to transfer information directly to and from memory, without the processor's intervention. This was originally conceived as a more efficient means of transferring information to and from memory than programmed I/O, as it allows the processor to do other work (when using an operating system that supports it). It is still used by many devices, although newer transfer modes are now used for high-performance devices like hard disks. DMA is controlled by the chipset's DMA controller, and the better (and newer) the controller, the more DMA modes its supports. For more details on DMA controller, refer to:

Is fame a luxury or a burden? ?

Asked by Pravat .. in Self Development at   11:13 AM

Karthick Ar's Answer

It can be both! The important thing is how you'll be going to handle it. See! Obviously advantages to be famed are You're being recognized for something you are really pretty good at (even if its looking pretty). You will most likely make a lot of money. You can really help people since you have such exposure. Whereas the other/bad side of getting famous are You're under constant scrutiny--nothing you do or say will not be criticized or talked about or both. You won't know who your true friends are, if they truly like you because of YOU, or because you're famous. Your family will suffer from the constant scrutiny. You'll be no longer appreciated for the true you, but only the famous image. Again, i like to say, fame is and awesome thing if you know how to handle it.

My d drive has duplicate files/ the files are the same as my c drive my c drive has tons of space can i deleate some of the files on d drive w/out damage to my?

Asked by simmi singhy in Computers & Accessories at   10:16 AM on December 03, 2008

Karthick Ar's Answer

Of course! you can delete the duplicate files on D:\ drive by yourself. But anyways consider the safety precautions. Never delete any files you're not sure. So it's better idea to go with, Window's in-built Disk Cleanup tool which helps you free up space on your hard disk. The utility identifies files that you can safely delete (such as temporary installation/internet files, files in recycle bin, optional windows components etc) and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files. To access this tool, Right click on the disk drive letter you want and under 'General' category, click 'Disk cleanup'.

Alternatively, Let me suggest you to use: "CCleaner" which is a tool to clean your system from temporary and unnecessary duplicate files that accumulate over time and to claim valuable hdd space. Get it from:

I have not been able to burn a DVD properly. Some error always takes place. What should I do to burn the DVD efficiently?

Asked by simmi singhy in Computers & Accessories at   10:22 AM on December 03, 2008

Karthick Ar's Answer

There could be many reasons for continually getting cryptic error messages while you try to burn DVDs. Here are the most common culprits:

~ You don't have DMA enabled

~ Your burner don't support your media

~ You are burning at too high rate

~ Some settings in your DVD burning program are wrong or it has a serious bug

~ You are using the wrong type of disc

DVD burning programs like Nero reports when burn has failed and gives you a chance to save or print out an log file. Save that log file on your hard disk. You will need it. So take your log file and compare it with the above said issues to what could have gone wrong with your burning.

For further extensive details on DVD burning troubleshoot for NERO, refer to:

For other burning programs, refer to the developer's site help/FAQ section.

Pentium4 IBM - 20gb HDD not recognized - (tried (4) new 20gb HDDs exactly the same HDD not recognized) what do i do Rob?

Asked by simmi singhy in Computers & Accessories at   10:28 AM on December 03, 2008

Karthick Ar's Answer

There are several possibilities why a hard drive may not be recognized: Incorrect hard drive settings, System virus, Data corruption, Hard drive configuration, Bad Hard Drive Cable or even malfunctioning hard disk itself. Try doing an auto-detect of the IDE drives in BIOS. Virtually all BIOSes now come with IDE device auto-detection. The BIOS will usually display on the screen what device it finds each time it autodetects. If it finds the drive after doing the auto-detect, save & exit and let it continue booting. Otherwise, there may be a problem with hard disk. Remove, examine and reseat the signal cable and power connections to the hard disk drive and to the system board, to ensure all connections are firm and proper. Also make sure the jumper settings are correct. Make sure the data (IDE) ribbon cables are in tact and in working condition. If again the problem persists, Check if the drive is recognized by the BIOS in another working system. If not, the drive is defective and needs to be replaced.

What software lets you see and monitor your hard drive storage?

Asked by simmi singhy in Computers & Accessories at   10:22 AM on December 03, 2008

Karthick Ar's Answer

Let me suggest you to opt for the tool "OverDisk" which is an interactive hard disk space explorer that displays your hard drive with clickable charts, allowing you to spot files and folders that are the most space consuming, and also get an overall idea of how your disk space is used. It can display charts based on physical size, logical size or wasted space and allows you to quickly browse and explorer a folder with a single click. Download 'OverDisk' from:

How is access speed of disk calculated (?

Asked by simmi singhy in Computers & Accessories at   10:28 AM on December 03, 2008

Karthick Ar's Answer

There are various ways of measuring the speed of the hard disk. The main ones are the maximum data transfer rate (is the highest amount of data that can be transferred per second), the spindle rotation speed (The rotation speed of the disk) and the seek time (is the average time it takes for the disk to find the data you need on the platters). A typical desktop IDE hard disk rotate at 7,200 revolutions per minute (RPM). A typical server hard disk spin at 10,000 or 15,000 rpm to achieve sequential media transfer speeds. You can use hard disk model number to obtain disk RPM. For example, a typical Seagate disk Model # ST373455SS in google search can provide you the RPM. Apart from this, you can also try out a program, DiskTT (Disk Throughput Tester) which measures the performance of your harddrive`s read and write function (throughput). You can select a folder or drive to test and the program performs a real-time test on the selected disk. Get it from:

http://www.snapfiles.com/d ownload/dldisktt.html

Another program, HD Speed measures both sustained and burst data transfer rates of your hard disks and features a realtime graphical display. Get it from:

My DVD drive on my laptop wont open. It has a disk in it already and when i push the button to poen it nothing happens, Help please!!?

Asked by simmi singhy in Computers & Accessories at   10:28 AM on December 03, 2008

Karthick Ar's Answer

If the normal methods of pressing "Eject" button or right click on DVD drive in "My Computer" and Press the "Eject" didn't open the drive, there must be a tray jamming. To rectify this (temporarily): Look for the small hole on the faceplate of the DVD drive. This is the manual release. The location of the manual release hole will vary. Take one clean pin or paper clip. Straighten the paperclip or use the pin and insert it into the manual release hole until resistance is felt. Once the resistance is felt, keep pushing the paper clip until the tray opens a little. Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the tray until the disc is accessible. If the tray still does not open, there may be a drive power cable problem. Locate the power cord that connects to the back of the CD or DVD tray that is having the problem. Unplug the power cable and wait five seconds. Find a different power cable that is not being used, or reseat with the previous power cable again, plug it into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket. This would solve the problem.
