Am I damaging my body or gaining weight because I don't eat breakfast?

Asked by Raksha in Personal Health at   3:01 PM on February 12, 2008

anisha's Answer

all dieticians use a golden sentence "no fasting and no feasting for a healthy life"... and the word breakfast itself means 'break the fast'... it is very important diet of the day because an approximate of 8-10 hours would have elapsed from the last diet at night... so it is not advisable to skip the breakfast... ideally the breakfast should be taken as early in the morning as possible and it should be heavy yet free of the oils and fat... take lunch 4-5 hours after the breakfast and a snack in the evening... and dinner 2 hours before sleep and a glass of milk while retiring on the bed... but always make sure to do regular exercise which is also very essential... a right diet in right quantity and at right time is one of the corner stone for good health..

Can you get something to help you against grinding your teeth?

Asked by blogger01 in Personal Health at   3:10 PM on February 12, 2008

anisha's Answer

there is normally wear and tear of the teeth... but that will be renewed regularly... this is not something to worry about.. but some chew the food mostly on one side.. this is harmful and can lead a condition called bruxism which causes severe pain at the angle of jaw... so stop worrying and chew the food equally on both the sides and ur body will take care of the rest...

Are there really foods that increase your metabolism?

Asked by Raksha in Personal Health at   5:35 PM on February 12, 2008

anisha's Answer

whatever u eat has to be digested... for this process certain amount of energy is required... there are few food items which require more energy to digest them than they actually provide.. these foods increase the metabolism in a sense and help to loose weight... but these are bland foods containing fibers predominantly and are not appetizing... so it is not a practical way to loose weight...

is there is any way of getting rid of Asthama

Asked by kavita in Personal Health at   5:59 PM on February 12, 2008

anisha's Answer

asthma is a chronic disorder and potentially curable in those individuals whom the allergen is known.. and this is achieved by avoiding the allergen.. but this is not practical in those individuals in whom the cause for allergic response is not known... but even in these individuals the treatment is very effective... the treatment depends on the severity of the disease:
1. if the attacks are less than 2 times a month then drugs are taken at the onset of attack and very effective..
2. in other individuals other drugs are added and should be taken every day... this effectively control the symptoms and are effective...
so it is better that u show to specialist to get the best possible treatment...

what is the cause of 'FITS'?? how can they be avoided???

Asked by R.B.Lakshmi in Personal Health at   2:06 PM on February 11, 2008

anisha's Answer

the causes for FITS are convulsions is different in different age groups... in the infants it can be due to infection, low blood sugar/ calcium, etc.. in children it can be due to fever causing febrile seizures, tumors in the brain, infection of the brain or it's coverings, but in majority the cause is not known and genetics blamed... in the elderly it can be due to the bleeding in the brain or over it's coverings, it can be due to tumors in the brain, space occupying lesions in the brain, low blood sugar level, but in many the cause is not known.. so the blood examination and CT scan is necessary to find the cause... the only way to control them is use anti-epileptic drugs, this is also the only way to prevent the convulsions....

Asked by R.B.Lakshmi in Personal Health at   2:05 PM on February 11, 2008

anisha's Answer

the society itself is not behaving responsible about it's health... then how can health-care be committed... what percentage of ur income u spend on ur health 1%, 2% , 3%, how much... an american spends 15-20% of his/her income to keep himself healthy... many of us don't go to doctors unless something has gone seriously wrong... so the society has no responsibility to question the healthcare system.. people get what they sow.. if the people change the system too will...
