the basic criteria to join merchant navy is a s follows >>>>

The Merchant Navy is a non-combatant commercial fleet, which deals with transporting cargo and occasionally, passengers, by sea. Its fleet is therefore composed of passenger vessels, cargo liners, tankers, carriers, as well as other special types of vehicles. A career in this field is full of adventure and long voyages to exotic places. Above all this, the excellent pay and promising promotional opportunities make the career lucrative and exciting in spite of all the hard work life and long absence from family and home.

The main positions open in the merchant navy are for navigating officers, radio officers and marine engineers. They are usually employed by shipping companies on a contractual basis, which is generally of six to nine months' duration. Earlier a career in this field was considered purely for men. Women were not generally known to take up jobs in merchant navy but the past few years have seen a positive change with many women taking up jobs as ship doctors and radio officers.

In Merchant Navy, major tasks performed are in three basic areas of a ship. The Deck, the Engine and the Saloon Department. There are thus, many career options that are available for any youngster who has dreams to join the merchant navy. The deck officers include the captain, chief officer, second officer, third officer and other junior officers. The engine department consists of the chief engineer, second engineer, third engineer, fourth engineer, electrical officer and junior engineers. The service department manages the kitchen, laundry and other services. Jobs are available with shipping companies in India and other countries.

Prominent institutes conducting courses in this field are TS Chanakya, Mumbai and Marine Engineering Research Institute (MERI), in Kolkata and Mumbai.

WHAT IS BMS EXACTLY? WHAT DOES IT CONSISTS OF?

Asked Anonymously in Exams, Education & References at   3:48 PM on November 22, 2008

Anant-!!!!!-'s Answer

well anyonomus ,

see BMS has two meaning s.....

the first being

Bone marrow suppression or myelotoxicity (adjective myelotoxic) is a serious side-effect of chemotherapy and certain drugs affecting the immune system such as azathioprine. NSAIDS may also cause bone marrow suppression. The risk is especially high in chemotherapy for leukaemia.

Because the bone marrow is the manufacturing center of blood cells, the suppression of bone marrow activity causes a deficiency of blood cells. This condition can rapidly lead to life-threatening infection, as the body cannot produce leukocytes in response to invading bacteria and viruses, as well as leading to anaemia due to a lack of red blood cells and spontaneous severe bleeding due to deficiency of platelets.

And the second being ....

Glossodynia or burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is a condition characterized by a burning or tingling sensation on the lips, tongue, or entire mouth.

Typically, there are no visual signs like discoloration that help the diagnosis.

Possible causes include nutritional deficiencies, chronic anxiety or depression, type 2 diabetes, menopause, oral disorders such as thrush or dry mouth, or damaged nerves (specifically, cranial nerves associated with taste).

One cause of burning mouth syndrome and associated disorders is the foaming agent in many toothpastes, sodium lauryl sulfate, a surfactant commonly used in household products. There are now several toothpastes on the market specifically without this additive.

How to prepare for descriptive exam of bank clerck?

Asked Anonymously in Exams, Education & References at   7:02 PM on November 22, 2008

Anant-!!!!!-'s Answer

well anyonomus ...

actually as yu said that .... yu want to prepare specifically for descriptive exams ....so for that i can refer you a book that is competition master .....

see anyonmus ...THE COMPETITION MASTER provides you with solved papers (Reasoning, Objective English, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness) of various exams, including Bank exams that you will find very useful for practice while preparing for the SBI and other Bank exams.

Going through current affairs and current GK sections of CM, of minimum last six months, is highly recommended for scoring well in the General Awareness section of the exam.

Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude questions are best mastered by practice. In different exams only the level of difficulty varies; the type questions asked remains similar. So, go through all solved papers published in CM in last 12 issues (except for papers of Management entrance and NDA/CDS) and practice solving them as part of your preparations for the SBI or other Bank Clerk Grade or PO exams.

Define level of culture?

Asked by jeev varatha in Exams, Education & References at   12:48 PM on November 22, 2008

Anant-!!!!!-'s Answer

well jeev ,

see buddy .... Culture (from the Latin cultura stemming from colere, meaning "to cultivate")generally refers to patterns of human activity and the symbolic structures that give such activities significance and importance.

Cultures can be "understood as systems of symbols and meanings that even their creators contest, that lack fixed boundaries, that are constantly in flux, and that interact and compete with one another".

Culture is manifested in human artifacts and activities such as music, literature, lifestyle, food, painting and sculpture, theater and film. Although some scholars identify culture in terms of consumption and consumer goods (as in high culture, low culture, folk culture, or popular culture), anthropologists understand "culture" to refer not only to consumption goods, but to the general processes which produce such goods and give them meaning, and to the social relationships and practices in which such objects and processes become embedded. For them, culture thus includes art, science, as well as moral systems.

Various definitions of culture reflect differing theories for understanding, or criteria for evaluating, human activity.

Writing from the perspective of social anthropology in the UK, Tylor in 1874 described culture in the following way: "Culture or civilization, taken in its wide ethnographic sense, is that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society."

Rock engravings in Gobustan, Azerbaijan indicate a thriving culture dating around 10,000 BC.More recently, the United Nations Educational,

Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) (2002) described culture as follows: "... culture should be regarded as the set of distinctive spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional features of society or a social group, and that it encompasses, in addition to art and literature, lifestyles, ways of living together, value systems, traditions and beliefs
