Feelings of joy are more if the problems and issues between the couple are solved and put to rest...
Yes, the cause-effect basis can be solved, by getting to the root of the cause and solving it at an initial stage rather than ignoring it and later facing its effect in difficult ways.

The only way to know the boy's character and nature is by getting know him well, in all ways possible...and also by trying to place situations and situational questions before him, and finding out how he is reacting to them.
