Body temperature - Why does it rise when you are ill?

Asked by Tingtong S in Alternative Medicine at   7:51 AM on October 07, 2008

Amit Suri's Answer

Hi Tintong...

When we are ill our body fights against the infection with the help of antibodies. In the process of producing more antibodies our body heats up. More temperature more is the production of antibodies. Substances like pyrogens causes fever. They move through bloodstream send message to hypothalamus in brain which controls body temperature.Hypothalamus further send message to the body which causes shivering increase in heart rate etc.

Rise in the temperature of body indicates that our body is sick and fever takes our body to a temperature which is not friendly for the virus in our body and therefore helps us to get well soon.
Now here a big question arises that whether fever should be lowered by taking medicines as from above we come to know that it helps the body in recovering infection?

It should be noticed that fever is not a type of illness or create disorder in body it is the indication for some other problem or infection in the body.

Temperature should be taken seriously depends upon the symptoms other than fever, like age of the individual, illness, behavior etc.

Sometimes cold or other virus can cause high fever while serious infections cannot cause fever and they may lower the normal body temperature.

who is terrorist? define terrorism.

Asked by Saurav Kumar in Books & Authors at   4:02 PM on October 06, 2008

Amit Suri's Answer

Hi Saurav...

Most common definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants. Some definitions also include acts of unlawful violence and war. A common opinion about terrorist groups, especially after the 'Global War on Terror' began after 9/11/2001, is that the majority of terrorist attacks are due to Islamic-extremists or radical religious groups. The 2001 attack of the World Trade Center and the hijacking of four passenger jets are a very well known and a well documented example of Islamic terrorism in recent memory.

whats the diference b/w love n affection

Asked by Yashoo Kumar in Love & Romance at   5:05 PM on October 06, 2008

Amit Suri's Answer

Yes, definitely. Affection is a part of love, a way to express love, but doesn't sum up the whole thing, not by a long shot. As stated by Nick, "You will feel an affection for someone you love, but you do not necessarily love someone you feel an affection for." And that's how it is.
