Amit Suri's Answer
Hi Munna, Bank Clerk is an employee of a bank who receives and pays out money to the customers.Clerks need to be able to work neatly and accurately, have good insight and language skills, do calculations, work as a team and show initiative and intelligence. Most physically-impaired people are also suitable for this career as it does not often require that they stand all day. The job involves routine office work that assists in the activities of the management and professional personnel. There are a variety of tasks such as typing, writing accounts, keeping files in order, handling of different machines, giving advice as well as preparing and analysing financial reports. In order to keep documents accurate, clerical workers have to pay precise attention to detail and have the ability to communicate with others.
While some tasks are unique to a specific organisation such as a bank, others can be roughly classified:
* Administrative Stores Clerk: This would involve you in the purchase and control of an organisation's stock such as pens, paper, pencils and so on which are distributed to personnel. Office accommodation communication facilities and other services would also be handled by you and you might be expected to obtain tenders and draw up contracts.
* Registration Clerk: In this field, you would open up, write down and distribute all incoming mail and handle correspondence matters as well as do the distribution of certificates and notices. Reports and instructions are kept up to date and documents, notices and other paperwork is checked to ensure that they are correct and complete. Relatively simply arithmetical calculations have to be done and statistics must be kept up to date. Secretarial duties such as taking down minutes at meetings are often required.
* Personnel Clerk: You would keep personnel registers, reports, regulations and manuals updated, check documents such as applications for posts and receipts, take messages and relay them to the correct parties and answer enquiries from visitors,
* Financial Clerk: Entries into cash-books, journals and ledgers would be your responsibility.
