She had co-starred with Kamaljit Singh in 'Shagun', and later married him on April 27, 1974, and moved to his farmhouse in Bangalore. She subsequently gave birth to a son, Sohail, and then to a daughter, Kashvi.

He was a small time actor called Kanwaljeet, who at the time of his marriage to Waheeda Rehman was mistaken with the present TV star Kanwaljeet, who too was struggling in the film industry. Kanwaljeet was made to convert to Islam by Wahida Rehman, but got Hindu rituals upon his death. It is not known if he re-converted to Hinduism or his conversion to Islam was a sham created to passify Wahida Rehman's rigidly Islamic relatives. There is some gossip about their having seperated before he died. Kanwaljeet did a few cameos in some films before getting lost into oblivion and then resurfaced to glory when he was married by Waheeda Rehaman.
