Madhuri wanted to become a micro-biologist - however that just wasn't destined to be. An offer from Rajshri Productions brought Madhuri her first role, the film `Abodh' (1986) released and forgotten, it wasn't until godfather Ghai saw Madhuri and gave her a tiny dance sequence in `Karma' (1986), that things improved. The dance sequence was omitted from the final cut. Ghai promised Madhuri better roles, on the condition that she stop doing tiny roles in insignificant films. Thus, Ghai gave Madhuri `Uttar Dakshin', and then a proper launch in `Ram Lakhan' (1988).

Her overtly sensual dance style continued to bring her fame in the 'dhak dhak' song in Beta and 'choli ke peeche' in Khalnayak. Now Mrs Nene, she reigns as one of the leading female stars of Bollywood, proving her acting ability with fine performances like Prakash Jha's Mrityudand.

Madhuri's introductory film ABODH , in which at the tender age of 19 she shines and shows promise even then of her magnitude.

A good clean family film from the Rajshri camp, who have made a name for themselves by making films that can be viewed with enjoyment by the whole family.

Although this film was not directed by Sooraj Barjatya, who regularly delivers Superhit films for Rajshri(e.g Maine Pyaar Kiya,Hum Apke Hain Koun?,Hum Saath Saath Hain) it is along the same lines promoting moral/family values.

Madhuri excels in her role as a young naive bride who is full of life alongside Bengali actor Tapas Paul who plays her bemused husband, he is also very good in his role as are the supporting cast particularly the lady who plays the Grandmother.

madhhaturi dixit started her film career with the film ABODH by raj shri films. but this film did not give her the recognistion. she later did films like swati. finally shubhash ghai gave her the platform. she was casted in 'ram lakhan' and then in 'tezaab' which reached her to the heights of success. the song 'ek do teen....' choreographed by saroj khan did wonders for her and she become the best actress of her times...
