Some of the hit Malayalam movies in 2007 are
1) Chocolate : The film which has already collected a six crore gross from its four week run is still registering eighty percent in major centres. The film has given a big boom to the career of Prithviraj who have been signed for a number of films after the hit.
2) Achuvinte amma :: Meera Jasmine's recent hit movie in Malayalam.
3) Vinodayathra :::: As far as box office success is concerned, Vinodayatra tops the list. Though Satyan Anthikad showed reluctance to move out of his own tried and tested formula of feel-good family sagas, his Vinodayathra unleashed some freshness on screen. Dileep, as an MCA graduate who loves to fool around without shouldering much responsibilities and Meera Jasmine, as the engineering student who had to discontinue her studies due to familial issues, were good in their respective roles. It was a routine tale but was still appealing.
4) Mayavi ::
Mammootty made his presence felt in the out and out commercial film Mayavi, directed by Shafi. He rarely came on screen to batter erring thugs to pulp, but his shadows were enough to underline his magical presence in the film.
5) Chotta Mumbai
Another commercial venture. Chotta Mumbai was perhaps one of the most eagerly awaited movies in recent times and the film did some okay business thanks to the expectations.
