a good director should be a good leader, a good planner, controller and decisive. more over he should have the knowledge of camera angles and the lighting schemes, he should be able to work according to the screen play and should have the essence of creativity, so as to make the movie beautiful. a director should have a cool temper and should handle situations very calmly.

director should be creative, should be able to make the movie in such a way so that it gathers more masses to appreciate the theme of the movie rather than only the trend movies..theme and inspirational movies should also be directed in a very effective and fruitful way so that it gives the right message to the society

Creativity, ability to recognize a good script and recognize and execute it, should be able to think on his feet and be ruthless with his rushes. He also has to be able to handle all actors and their egos!

I think A good Director should know about Viewers mind,Direction is an art, he need a clear views about the story, what kind of out put he want,what kind of story telling he need...and he should need the capacity to controll all the crew and need a leadership mentality...understanding power,need good expressing capasity...an enjoying mind....

1) First of all , a good human being so that he / she can direct his actors well. 2) Should have a sound knowledge of direction. 3) A good director is good at details in scene. 4) He or she can sense when the lighting is correct or off. 5) They should have good rapport with the actors and the film cre,and if there is good feelings amount the crew the film is a success.How the audience pick up on this I do not know.
