According to research, the longest movie ever made was indeed The Cure for Insomnia (1987) as suggested by an awesome WikiAnswers Contributor. At a total running time of 85 hours (5,220 min), it premiered in its entirety at The School Of The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois from January 31 to February 3, 1987, in one continuous showing.
Here are some other long movies (as suggested by other WikiAnswers Contributors) you might consider seeing:
* Cleopatra is the longest movie ever made at 4 hours and 3 minutes. There may be longer ones made in India but I am not too sure about those features.
* Titanic and Braveheart are also 4 hours plus.
* The Russian version of War and Peace is 7+ hours. It was shown in theaters on two parts.
* The Cure For Insomnia is 85 HOURS LONG!
Another long movie was Dances With Wolves with Kevin Costner. If I remember right, it was THREE HOURS LONG!! And with Kevin Costner in it, it seemed like an eternity! Honestly in my top five worst movies I've seen. It makes about no. 3 on the list. :)
