Nitin I dont think I would agree with you on this one, long gone has been the time, when only Masala films used to do good at the Box-Office.

Now, to be successful you need a complete package(Not only good acting, but good script, direction, music sets, underlying meaning etc.). Take the TZP, RDB etc. for example. Not only they were appreciated but were also one of the highest grosser movies.

Hoti hai, We recent examples like "Taare Jamin Par & Sarkaar" are meaning full movies and they are well accepted by people. As far as ur question is concerned to some extent u may be right but it depends on the test of people.

it is not always that good and meaningful films loose ground. latest films like chak de and taare zameen par were hits but the film like gandhi my father failed to appeal to the crowd. probably it is because of the star cast or because of connection that the film makes wiht the audience.
