Item song r d pre publicity stunt.This r item means r loaded with special dance n catchy words to promote film.mostly all item song r controversial.

Hello Priyanka, "Item number" is a term commonly used in the Indian film industries, such as Bollywood, Kollywood and Tollywood, to describe a catchy, upbeat dance sequence for a song in a movie; that has no relevance to the plot of the film.I think that item numbers really add a spice to the film and helps the film in getting a good publicity if the item number is performed by some good actor or actress.

Personaaly what i feel is no. There is no need of item song if the story is gud and actor actress are gud but if its not then it is neccessary for movies coz kuch toh chahiye jo log movie mai dekhe..

Well …. It’s not actually the so termed ‘item song’ that the film makers impose on the viewers. Looking at the broader prospect one must understand what masquerades the items songs. It’s the sleazy and kinky sexualized perversion the filmmakers want to exhibit in their movies and the best way to present all these things is through an item number. (sometimes even if there is no space for sex in the script they add it through item number and that too in the name of public demand). So the entry of item songs (where cavorting covers-up choreography, dress is important than dance, more masti than music, ostentatiously showing oomph) is not a healthy trend for industry. It is a disease borne out of the ‘wear-less’ epidemic in the film industry and the likes of Rakhi Sawant are the biggest threat to the anemic (as the veins of Bollywood running short of creativity blood) film industry.
