A screenplay writer on the basis of the story writes a screen version and it is called screen play.The difference is, in the story, the writer says, Rampur is a small village on the banks of the river Ganga.The screen play would be, Blue sky,birds flyimg in the sky,villagers working busily in the fields, woman are fetching water by pots from the village pond etc. The idea is to show the viewer visually. This is just an example.The producer selects the screenplay writer on the basis of the skills of the screenplay writer and sees to what extent he adopted the story to the screen.
