Both Dumbledore and Sirius are dead... and will not come back. Since the series is coming to an end - Rowling wants to finish as many charaters so that the entire shift of focus is on the two main leads i.e. Harry and Voldemort. Though im sure there will be more downsizing of characters in the comiing book and Ron will surely die.

well i think sirius is going to be back ,they havent mentioned a killing curse in the 5th book but i think dumbledore is definitely dead bcoz they have mentioned a killing curse in the sixth book besides jk rowling herself is telling that dumbledore is dead when asked by salman rushdie and she has also told she is going to revive some character,i guess its sirius

I think Dumbledore will return back. Coz his last words are -"Severus, please" and Dumbledore is not a wizard who would beg a "Death Eater" for his life. This hints that he has some plans..........so he'll come back.

well ..for all this death life questions ..i have only one thing to say ...the difference between harry potter and other fantasy books is that here repeatedly we have felt the irrevocability of death.those who die ..they DIE.their presence lives but they dont appear magically alive in their physical appearences .we should respect rowling's commendable effort to make us feel the pangs of death and loss in such enthralling and beautiful ways.so let black and dumbledore rest in peace..its harry's turn to fight alone .

We all wish that Sirius was still alive, he was a really cool character, and the closest living thing to a father that Harry ever had. However, the theory that Sirius is still alive and well is more wishful thinking than anything else... It would be great if he ended up being alive, and Harry was able to rescue him, but every book has a flow, if you will, and that doesn't appear to be where the story is leading... We'll all continue to hope that you're right, but when book 7 has come and passed, don't be too disappointed if that doesn't happen.
