Akshay kumar studied martial arts in Bangkok and worked as a chef. He then came back to Mumbai, where he started teaching martial arts. One of his students happened to be a photographer and recommended him to do modeling. The student gave him a modeling assignment for a small company. For his two hours posing in front of the camera, he got Rs. 5,000, compared to his previous salary of Rs. 4,000 in one month. That was one of the main reasons why he chose to be a model. After a couple of months of modeling, Kumar was finally offered a lead role by producer Pramod Chakravarthy for the movie Deedar (1992).

The movie dint do to well at box office but Akshay became a star after the movie.

The movie is directed by Raj Sippy and released in the year 1991.

Akshay kumar's first bollywood film was "saugandh" in 1991, which was not famous. he did two more unsuccessful films after this, "Raja" and "Mr. Bond". in 1992 he came up with a hit film "khiladi"and then there was no stopping. he turned out to be action hero, then a romantic hero and then also did comic roles.

First movie Akshay Kumar signed - Deedar

Even though his first released movie was Saughand, he first signed Deedar. Akshay was the original choice for Phool Aur Kante but since he had given dates for Deedar, Phool Aur Kante went to Ajay Devgan.

Well,Akshay Kumar’s First movie was ""Saughand"".

Even though his first released movie was ""Saughand"", he first signed Deedar. Akshay was the original choice for Phool Aur Kante but since he had given dates for Deedar, Phool Aur Kante went to Ajay Devgan.


""Saughand""was a good first outing for one of the hottest bodies ever in Bollywood.

The story is easy to follow, even without subtitles. Boy meets girl. Boy meets bad guys. Boy trains (shirtless) to fight the bad guys with his trusty sidekick. Boy kicks a** of bad guys. Boy gets girl.

As this is a Bollywood movie, everybody inexplicably breaks into song and dance from time to time. The numbers are serviceable.
