Dear Shilpa its not disparity but it thetechnical aspect, the boy is 3 years elder than the girl according to the law of land cos he has to earn for the forth comming family, means for kids and daily livelyhood. And if he is elder than the girl he is more wiser than her to handle the family day to day matters.

You can noice that girls reach puberty at 11-15 on the contrary the boys reach at 13-17.So there is a difference in attaining maturity as well that is the reason for the differnce.
