Upto certain extent you are true, because it is not only financial independence but also the zest to lead a successful and abuseless life, makes every women of today's india to take this initiative. Financial independancy is only a miscule part. There are other things which also plays crucial role for a woman while taking initiative for getting a divorce, such as the number of children she is having, the dream for their future growth, the emotional support from family and friends, highly secured and lucrative career, self emotion and strong personality devoid of any sentimentalism, etc. So there are many factors which are equally important, for the women of today's india for taking such a decision first.

yea it can be said that since women are becoming financially independent the graph of divorces is going up,earlier women use to feel helpless as they were dependent on their husbands economically which compelled them to stay in a marriage even if they were not happy in it.they had no way out except to end their lives of things became unbearable for them depending on the individual.they could not expect any support from their parents also since the pressure from society was too much to handle if someones daughter came back home despite being married.it was thought to be a matter of shame and helplessness for parents,so they did not or could not lend any support to their suffering daughters and that left no choice for women and they use to suffer in silence,but now the society has changed and women are no more dependent of their husbands or their parents as they are educated and working and earning good,then why should they tolerate abusive husbands,they have the right to live their lives with respect dignity and love.

Yes that's very true!....financially jo women independent hoti hai, woh pati har aadnya ka palan karana jaruri nahi samazati!

...parinaam divorce mein hi chala jaata hai!

I think, even if a woman is financially independent then also she always try all the efforts to save the marriage from breaking because no woman wants a divorce. So it doesn't matter, whether the woman is financially independent or not.Getting the divorce after marriage is a very painful experience for a woman because it affects a woman more than a man. But a self dependent woman can take her decisions easily.

Very much TRUE in general in cases Financially well to do & unhappy or unsatisfoed with husband, others just pull on.

when you have mentioned unhappy marriage then definitely a woman who is financially independant would be in favour of a divorce than a dependant person, that does not mean the dependant is happy there, but one gets a chance to be without agony if you are independant.

Yes, there are many women who take initiative in getting a divorce. They need not be financially independent.Even potentially for it is enof and they want to step out of an unhappy marriage.This is very true.I personally feel that divorce is not a bad thing when a woman wants it. After all, she is the one who suffers the most thru' an unhappy marriage.I may be wrong. There are scores of unhappy men too, who put up with bad spouses.They do not seek divorce because of the uncertainties after that. But ur point is true that financial independence hs made women really bold enof to break away from a bad husband
