how imprortant is age difference between two individuals to marry...or.....what cud b d apt age difference?

For the purpose of marriage, the difference of age between the two should be observed and assessed from two angles. One is physical another is psychological makeup. The element of psychological makeup predominantly relates to the girl/female.
Marriage is not an affair for a day or two. Its relevance and continuity is life-long. Therefore, the marriage should be a concrete bridge between husband and wife with trust, confidence and security. Ob course, nobody knows what may happen in the unforeseen future; but precaution has to be taken at the time of selecting the life partner, where possible.
For age difference between the boy and the girl, there is no such scientific suggestion about it. Mostly it depends, how both adjust or readjust, before or after marriage.
In wit and intelligence, a girl is assumed matured in comparison to her age. That is why, in marriage, age of the girl is preferred to be lower than the boy. In popular belief it is assumed as 5, 6 or 7 years. But if the girl is healthy (I mean scientifically healthy) then difference up to 10 years makes no difference. I have seen couples with age difference of 10 years enjoying happy conjugal life.

Truely speaking regarding age difference in getting married is not that importance, as there are many couple who are of same age and are leading the happy life. The age different in boy and girl is required only for holding the responsibilities. It is adviceable to have minimum two to five years age different boy and girl when they are getting married. But not the compulsion as many time girl is elder to boy at the time of their marriage.

It is better to have equal age or two three years different both to boys and girls. Sometimes circumstance can make lot of difference in age, But it is better they are equalls or few years younger or older makes no difference

Age does not matter at all. There is no appropriate age difference between husband and wife. Come out of this middle class mindset. Only mental wavelength matters.

well there ia matter of marraige 4 year differance is considered sufficient...

there shold not be more gap...

cause if there is a big gap then there is a lack of communication...difference in thoughts wil be there

but that is not comuplasary...if age differance is more then ...there will not be a good match

there are many examples of big age differance in our society...and they are still happy

I recall actually seeing a formula for this, but can't remember it. It was something on the order of "one half the man's age, plus seven". However it was stated, it didn't seem completely implausible, but any such statement will only work with large numbers, ignoring individual variations. Age is a case of mind over matter.
If the two people involved dont mind, then it doesnt matter. A sociology professor I had always told us that women should marry/partner men who were 7 years younger to make up for the difference in life expectancy.

I didn't really 'get it' then, but I'm understanding his perspective better now.

On an anecdotal basis, among the couples I know, the ones with slightly younger men/older women seem to do better overall.

Well according to me age dosent matter, what matter is , if you can grow old with that person,& ur mind frame should match with the other,there should always be about "you" not " Me". The apt age diff should not be more that 5 years cause the maturity level changes after that
