Life works on priorities. One can't get best of both worlds in case they are sharply in conflict. Prioritize and see which one matters most. In case families can be convinced, nothing better than that. Else, love has to find a way out ... and if required without the blessings of the family, if that's a way to set things the right way.

If both the families are highly conservative it would be a difficult task for them to find out an amicable settlement in the situation.
Finally, probably they would have to take a bold step and marry without the consent of their families.

As they can't live without each other as per your version, it seems that they are deeply in love with each other. As there families are conservative, it is obvious that they don't accept the relationship. The only way left before them is to elope and to wed in a temple. By this they may hurt their parents, but they will live happily for ever. Moreover, mind set of people keeps changing and there are every chances that their parents will accept them some day.
