How can an illegal alien get a federal tax id number and if you only know their artist name how can you look them up to see if they are illegal?

They can get an ITIN number (individual taxpayer identification number)It does not allow then to work or recieve income earned credit (IEC), only to pay federal taxes. I am not sure if it's the same thing as a federal tax id nomber or not
