well satya u can call the coustmer care of the respective cellular operator ,and request the operator to block ur mobile , giving the reason and also after verfying the details also

you can block the outgoing calls from ur mobile.Just call the customer care executive of ur service provider from ur landline or from ur friends mobile.Make a formal complaint in a police station of the area in which you lost ur mobile,it might help you in getting back the mobile and also help you when someone has misused your mobile after it has been lost...

call up your customer care. and tell them its urgent. if its airtel it will take only 4 hrs for them to block the sim. u will also get a new sim (free of cost) with the same number by visiting their office. it should be similar for all other networks.

Lodge an FIR fast, and ask the service provider (Airtel, Hutch etc. ) to block the SIM and you can get another SIM (No. will be same) for some nominal charges from the company
