Primarily human being is responsible for water pollution. We create toxic substances by knowingly or unknowingly. When it enters to streams, rivers, lakes, seas, oceans, and other water bodies, they get dissolved or deposited on the bed. It contaminants the water. The result is the pollution of water. The quality of water, then deteriorates. The aquatic ecosystem is affected. However, pollutants may affect the groundwater deposits. The potability of water becomes harmful to human, animal and plants.
The glaring example of water contamination is the river the Ganges in our country. Very recently, people are awaken about its seriousness and started remedial activities.
Water pollution is also done eruption of volcanoes, earth quakes and storms etc. the residues of above are deposited in the ground water and contaminants the water.
Out of many sources, the most polluting water source is the city sewage and industrial wastes which are discharged into the rivers. Such water carries disease-causing microbes. Agricultural is affected. Even the water from the fields that drains into rivers, is another major water pollutant. Present days’ use of fertilizers and pesticides are drained in to the rivers. Then the water is polluted.
