Much care has to be taken to thoroughly wet scrub the Lime-wash if any.
For Interior Painting, ensure that all the old paint is thoroughly scrubbed off. This is vital as the selected paint scheme may not be compatible with the earlier paint system applied, viz. old paint may be Oil based Lustre wall finish and the new painting selected may be water-based Emulsion Paint.
The walls (in case of Ground Floor Flats) upto a height of 3 feet should be treated for salinity.
In case of re-plastered (repaired) walls, allow the plaster to cure and dry satisfactorily for minimum 21 days, with good ventilation and to achieve the dampness level as low as 0.3%. Failing which, Fungus growth shall have detrimental effect on the New Paint.
The Exterior walls should be wet-scrubbed and treated with a Biowash to exercise FULL KILL of the 'spores' of algae/ mold.
"TO SUM UP - GOOD SURFACE PREPARATION IS THE ESSENCE OF PERFORMANCE OF ANY PAINT SYSTEM".
