What's the difference in a cold sore and fever blister. I have (what looks like) a pimple on my lip. I've never had a problem before, and I'm not sure what it

the fever blister is caused due to the infection by herpes virus... the virus is activated during high fever like pneumonia and causes blisters over the lips and inside the mouth... these will heal on there own with time and don't leave behind any scar... no treatment is effective but acyclovir is tried with limited success...

Abreva doesn't work as well as claimed on the commercials take L-Lysine you can get it at wal mart in the vitamin section. try camphophenic<-----spelling may not be right..but if you can find something close to that spelling should work.

Another plausible cause would be using expired lipstick/lip gloss. That happened to me once, just a pimple for a 3 days (had a party to attend as well). I knew that it could not have been a cold sore or a fever blister, for I'm practically immune to them.

Both my mother and long-time lover have them at multiple times a year. My mom gets them more so before/after a cold/fever. My boyfriend gets after being in the sun extended periods, but never after a cold/fever. So, it has left me with the impression that there is a difference.
