The heat during the summer time (from April to June) is very hard to bear, specialy in North India, which I felt to my self for many years in Delhi.I enjoy the winter, the best.
What precaution should be taken, is depended on in what activity we are in at that time, during the Day time, when the Sun directly hits at our body. This is not applicable to those lucky enough to work in A/C rooms. But who works in the field and those on the road plying two wheelers, labourers are at the mercy of the Sun's direct heat.Following precautions are to be taken to escape from Sun Stroke and Sun Burning. As far as possible, take a shade under a tree or tall building nearby intermitently .Continues heat, drains lot of fluid from our body, which may lead to dehydration. In Delhi climate we don't swet profusely. But in the vicinity of sea, lake, pond etc, there will be maximum swetting, loosing lot of water from our body, and hence replacement of water is the most important precaution we are required to take. Where swetting is not much, there is a possibility of Sun Stroke to those who work in open field. The immediate 1st aid is to take the person to an a/c room and administer de-hydration fluid drips. It can be made by ourselves by mixing in 750 ml of water with 1 teaspoon salt and 8 teaspoon sugar. Those who work in hot sun, can carry enough of this water mixer and drink when ever feel thirsty. Instead of taking all in one gulp,it is better to take little by little in over a period of time. Always use nice cotton clothes which can shunt out excess heat from our body. Fatigue or tiredness is the common symptom
in summer. Due to this the efficiency of human labour goes down.
The painful redness of Sun Burn is thought to be the result of ultraviolate light penetrating the top layer of skin and forming FREE RADICALS,which then attack cell membranes and DNA.Sun burn victims also should drink plenty of water to combat dehydration.
Precautions in additition to maximum water consumption, take plenty of Orange coloured fruits and vegetables, and dark green leafy vegetables for Beta Carotene and Vit-C.,Nuts and wheatgerm for Vit-E & Zinc. Whole grains, fish and pulses for Vit-B
Use Sun Glass to protect the eyes.
Avoid Alcohol and Coffee in hot season.
