The normal human body temperature is 37 degree centigrade ( 98.6 degree F.).It is lowest in the morning and rises in the evening.Some one is said to have fever if it rises above normal..
Fever is the symptom of sign that the body is fighting with some sort of infection.It is often accompanied by other symptoms ,such as sweting,shivering,thirst,flushed skin,nausea,aching head and or body and diarrhoea.
Children's temperatures can rise rapidly,but a high temperature(over 38.9 degree C,102 degree F)does not necessarily reflect the severity of an illness.Doctors treat illness,not raised temperatures.

Fever is caused due to the aggravation of any one or all the doshas of the body. Fever can occur as a result of infection, because of external injury, insect bite or poisoning. It must be kept in mind that fever can also be a symptom of many conditions, like bronchitis, pleurisy, tuberculosis, jaundice, malaria, measles or influenza.

The body maintains stability within this range by balancing the heat produced by the metabolism with the heat lost to the environment. The "thermostat" that controls this process is located in the hypothalamus, a small structure located deep within the brain. The normal body temp in human beings is 37.5 deg centigrade. But due to any reason, if the temperature goes above then this, it is called as fever. There can be many reason for temp. to rise. No epilepsy is not caused due to fever !

fever is an indication of the existence of infection, that's all. Reducing the heat of the fever is neccessary . If too much heat at the head region can lead to epilepsy. so we use ice pads to bring down fever level.
