well geeta,
My daughter (adopted) was diagnosed with ADHD when she was 7 years old. I also wanted medication to be a LAST resort so I took her out of school and homeschooled her. She had all kinds of self-esteem problems because of her inability to sit still and concentrate. Poor grades..always in trouble, the usual stuff. I knew she need social activities with other children so, in addition to church, I enrolled her in Martial Arts. They had a wonderful kid's program and her instructor was a dream. Quiet and patient. Within 6 months she could sit through an entire 2 hour testing without fidgiting. She became confident and self-assured. She is still training..and is now a 4th degree black belt (at 17), she was state champion in forms, weapons and sparring and is a nationally recognized certified instructor. In addition to Taekwondo, she has trained in Hapkido, Krav Maga, Kung Fu and has now added Brazilian Jui Jitsu. It will not work for everyone, but it worked wonders for her...she has never taken medication for her ADHD and no one would ever know she has it unless she told them.
