1)The 1st visual identification is the Gandhiji's clear water mark on left side(from front you look) of the currency. It must be very clear and without any break,not looking like drawing.(2) In the silver security thread which is visible only from the front with equal distance of gap,there must be RBI in English, and Bharathiya Reserve Bank in Hindi marked,clearly visible with naked eye. In fake note this type of thread will not be clear and will be broken one. (3) There will be currency denomination (Amount ) projection at the right side on the chest of Gandhiji. If we run our thumb and middle finger from top and bottom of the currency in that part,you can really feel it. (4)The currency numbers on right and left of the note will be bold,sharp and in line. (5) When we see the currency under the ultra-violet ray,we can see the figures and the flowers in the currency etc,shinning and colourfull. In fake note these things will be out. (6 ) If you try with little pain,making one edge of the note wet,we will be able to separate two papers as these are pasted after printing. (7) While counting the notes fast, even closing the eyes, one can find the difference from the sound of the paper.A "silky sound".

See if the note is crisp and thin. The notes are printed on optical fiber paper. Fake notes are printed on thick paper make of bamboo pulp. If it is a Xeroxed note the colour and print look faded.

Look for the ‘Intaglio” on the denomination i.e.1000,500,100,50 20 ,10 or 5 ( the embossed print that enables the blind to touch and know the denomination of the currency). The chemical’omran’ is used to print in ‘Intaglio’ which looks bright. Intaglio will be missing in counterfeit notes.

Look at the note against the light, for the fine and shining ‘security band’on the right side of ‘Intaglio’ look for the faint water mark

For a genuine currency note, the number panel will be regular and when scrutinized against ultra violet rays,the letters printed with fluorescent ink shine. For a fake note the security band will be rough and prominent Number panel will be irregular. The numbers are comparatively smaller as compared to the original notes.

Thhere are a few distinct marks that cannot be put in the fake ones. The Govt. is also shy to disclose them under the fear that these too will be added in further prints.. The quality of paper is one of the best ways to fuind whether it is a fake. The best method is to study the ggenuine notes that you get from the Banks. There are experts who will handle a not and will instantly know what is wring with them. These experts are given the currency notes and told to studyy them. They simply gaze upon these for hours after hours and days after days. There comes a time when they are given the fake ones and they immdeiately realise what is wrong with it. Ordinarily you read an article without paying more attention upon the spellings. But, when you are asked to do a proof reading the mistakes come and leap into your eyes. That is what is the way to learn about fake currency.
