1/2 cup Butter or Margarine: Softened
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/2 Cup shortening
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 Eggs
2 tablespoons sugar
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Heat oven to 400 deg. Mix thourougly butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and the eggs. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.
Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon: roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from baking sheet.
About 6 dozen cookies.
Hint: Because of the sugar coating, these cookies tend to have the bottoms burn quickly. I use a double walled cookie sheet. If you do not have one, you can set two cookie sheets on top of each other, to mimic the double walled cookie sheet.
