You can behave tactfully, pleasing the mother in law & husband too. Be kind & loving to her, she may change. If u try to be good & obedient in all matters u can, & remain firm & polite u can make her understand your character. u can politely refuse to do all that she says,& tell her ur opinions. Today's girls know how to tackle such situations, & most MIL's r friendly with the daughter in laws.

diplomacy is the right here, all these sort of woman want only attention and one can give a little more and yes have to butter none like you what ever you say is true and so on, but not for ever but to a certain extent

Submissiveness can be maintained as not to hurt elders old age believes as long as its not interfering in personal growth and affecting children’s future. Submissiveness has many definitions, it does not means when you are not submissive you are imprudent. Be strong while putting forward your opinion and give right justification to prove it.
