All objects take up space. Your computer is taking up space on the desk. You are taking up space on the chair.

All Objects have mass. Mass is how much there is of an object. Mass is related to how much something weighs. Mass and weight are two different things.

Objects that take up space and have mass are called matter. Everything around you is made up of matter.

hi ANitA ,Matter is commonly defined as the substance of which physical objects are composed. It constitutes the observable Universe. There is a tendency to regard manifestations of energy, such as light and sound, as not being material.

Objects that take up space and have mass are called matter. Everything around you is made up of matter. Chocolate cake is made up of matter. A block of wood, milk, and air all have properties. All the material on earth is in three states-solid, liquid, and gas. The "state" of the matter refers to the group of matter with the same properties. In other words, you group the objects together according to their properties.

Matter is everything around you. Matter is anything made of atoms and molecules. Matter is anything that has a mass. Matter is also related to light and electromagnetic radiation. Even though matter can be found all over the universe, you usually find it in just a few forms.

In science, matter is commonly defined as the substance of which physical objects are composed, not counting the contribution of various energy or force-fields, which are not usually considered to be matter per se (though they may contribute to the mass of objects). Matter constitutes much of the observable universe, although again, light is not ordinarily considered matter. Unfortunately, for scientific purposes, "matter" is somewhat loosely defined. It is normally defined as anything that has mass and takes up space.
