Yes. I do travel in Delhi by Bus also. The Blue line buses are owned by private operators and most of them are not maintained properly. Also, there is a contract system prevalent with these operators. i.e The owner of the bus lets out the bus on contract basis to individuals and charges a fixed amount every day irrespective of the collections during the day. The driver, conductor and cleaner share the money left after giving the owner the daily rent and money spent on running the bus. That is the reason they drive rashly and wait longer at stops to pick up more passengers. Most of the drivers are illiterate and rustic. a very very sad state of affairs. At the same time, one has to imagine driving this bus and managing to avoid two wheelers who criss cross, swerve between lanes and make dangerous cuts, besides all other vehicles not following the lane. Though the bus lanes are clearly marked, most of the cars and two wheelers travel in the bus lane. And it is certainly not safe especially in certain routes in west delhi and east delhi. Also, there is not alternative for aam admi and one is generally forced take the bus as other modes of travel are very costly. I think till metro covers most of Delhi areas, citizens have to bear with Blue Lines.
