hey friend.............
as per the present scenario the best mode of public transport is delhi metro in terms of safety, fast reach to destination and other facilities it provides. however its connectivity is still not reached to the mass levels.............however its better to travel by metro to any route where it has reached till now.
where the metro is not reached the next best option is to travel by bus it also provides the best connectivity within city limits and also outside it...............also for short journey you can also hire an auto or a taxi................
so there is no particular mode the best at present........its just all integrated network of public transport that suits the needs of the travellers............

Well its depend in winter prefer bikes. in summer & rainy season prefer metro / auto or by DTC aur chatered buses.
