every year indian government charges some tax on a person's income.. this is called income tax.. there is no definition of income tax. however, for this purpose we need to understand what is mean by 'income' on which a person has to pay necessary tax. and it will also be noted that all the income r not chargeable to tax .. there r some incomes which are exempt from being taxed. for more information i will recommend u to refer some good books related to Income tax act 1962
