Well friendship is all about how you start getting along with some one and later on a feeling of trust and bonding is realized! This relationship is one of the most beautiful of all!
Now if you want to take your friendship from just 'Hi' to 'Hello'(i.e. just instead of saying "hi" to each other you want to start talking better) its pretty simple. First of all try to find out if the ohter person seems interested to take that step further with you or not.
Now the first thing you do is dont play the "Shy boy" be free whenever you are around that person, you 'll automatically come to know if that person feels comfortable having you around or not.
Second thing what you could do is probably call that person often or even start chatting with that peron online and slowly try to develop a personal bond. One thing you need to be very sure about it that, dont speak on topics that can later put a bad impressiosn about you....(especially if its a girl you are talking to, dont start speaking about crushes, love, sex etc unless and untill you feel that she's just that type of girl who wouldnt mind sharing such topics with you. And if its a guy then probably dont try and show that you know too much and he's just a dimwitt.
Respect the other and then once you get along over the telephone and the internet then slowly start talking and spending more time with that person when you meet each other. Try to include that person with your gang, make that person feel homely and dont him/her feel that he/she is some one very very special and that you would do anything for he/she(I it that way and that is why I'm telling this to you!) I fel that if we start giving too much of importance, in the later stages there can be misunderstandings between the two of you!
And lastly its always good to remember dates and occasions so always make sure that you dont miss out an any of the single occassions!
I guess this way you can really gel well and maybe it might be more than just"hello" for you! And yes one last point would be to find out areas of similar interests!
