In international basis third umpires were brought in very late in 1990's and our very own Sachin Tendulkar was given out by third umpire in South Africa India match. it was an all new method used which took everyone by surprised and raised many such questions like do we need third umpires.

As the normal human eye cocept was best suited for the decision since ages in cricket. never the less the new move has been of great help as fair decisions are taken mostly for run outs as minor mistake by umpires can be harmful for the player and team who bear it.

Even Fourth umpire sometimes referred to as the reserve umpire, is a cricket official. For all international matches a fourth umpire is required to perform duties like bringing on the new ball, carrying drinks on to the field for the umpires and observing the pitch during the lunch and tea intervals to make sure there is no interference. The fourth umpire will take over the Third umpire duties if something happens to one of the onfield umpires, as the rules state the third umpire will take over on field duties.

Very very simple !
It was Sachin Tendulkar against South Africa. I watched that match live and I was astonished to see that our teams best batsman has been given out by the 3rd Umprie. I didnot liked that during that decision, But later I realize that this technique of 3rd umprie decision is fair and good for cricket.

Well, It was "Sachin Tendulkar " againest South Africa, when he gotr runout by a TV umpire.
SR Tendulkar becomes the first Test player to be dismissed by TV replay. Square leg Umpire: CJ Mitchley, TV Umpire: KE Liebenberg.
Sachin had just 11 runs from 24 deliveries in that match.
