As of now there are two captains -

A.Kumble for Test matches &
M.Dhoni for ODI's and Twenty -20.

Talking about A.Kumble he is handling the matches in test quite well as we saw in the recent two tour India toured on first a successful Australian tour and another recently ended last month of Sri Lanka. In both the tours A.Kumble was quite a steady mind captain, in Australia we had the win after 30 odd years so its a big achievement after winning the world cups.

Although in Sri Lanka we lost the series by 2-1 still the games was played good only the problem remaind that the senior players didn't struck form which lead to trouble in middle orders.


About Dhoni, being a good level headed person makes him the choice of a leader.

Beside he has a very good static’s with him which are very fruitful for the team. He is a natural leader and with him leading the side one can be sure he will be there for long time as he is still young and has a long time ahead.

His winning tournaments has been the proofs of how fruitful captain he is, the two big series one the ICC T-20 world cup which we won under his captaincy, and the other the series win over Australia in Australia were two major wins which he has handled really well and makes him the perfect captain.

MS dhoni is a very good captain of india in his captainship indai won recentlyodi series in srilanka

also india won triangular series in australia........ also in T-20 india won t-20 world cup...

so Dhoni is a new youth captain of india & i believe in his captainship india won 2011 worldcup

Before MS dhoni Rahul dravid was the captain of india in both odi and in test...
but he was giving resigning after world cup 2007 due to bad performance of india

before him Saurav ganguly was the captain of india .........but he has to also leave captainship due to bad form and grag chapel .........

Mahendra Singh Dhoni or MS Dhoni pronunciation (born July 7, 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand) is an Indian cricketer and the current captain of the Indian Twenty20 and ODI team. Anil Kumble (born 17 October 1970 in Bangalore, Karnataka) is an Indian cricketer. He is a right-arm leg spin (legbreak googly) bowler and a right-hand batsman. He is currently the leading wicket-taker for India in both Test and One Day International matches. At present he is the third highest wicket-taker in Test cricket and one of only three bowlers to have taken more than 600 Test wickets. Kumble has had success bowling with other spinners, notably Venkatapathy Raju and Rajesh Chauhan in the 1990s and Harbhajan Singh since 2000.

Kumble was appointed the captain of the Indian Test cricket team on 8 November 2007[1]. His first assignment as captain was the three-test home series against Pakistan that India won 1-0. Then he led the Indian Test team on its tour to Australia for the 2007-08 four-test series of The Border-Gavaskar Trophy that India lost 1-2. Kumble succeeds his state team mate Rahul Dravid, who resigned as the captain in September 2007 . Since his debut in international cricket in April 25, 1990, he has taken over 600 Test wickets and 330 ODI wickets. Although often criticized as not a big turner of the ball, Kumble is the second highest wicket taker among leg spinners in Test cricket behind leg spinner Shane Warne of Australia and the third of all bowlers after Warne and off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka and has claimed over 600 Test wickets. He is one of only two bowlers in the history of cricket to have taken all 10 wickets in a test innings, the other being Jim Laker of England. Dhoni is captain of Indian one day and twenty twenty team . Whereas Anil kumbale is test team captain till now. New Test Team captain has to be anounced on oct 1. So may be Dhoni will lead India in all three teams
