In the 1983 world cup which was won by India, saw the highest wicket taker bowler from India. Roger Binny took 18 wickets in that world cup with Roger Binny also won one man of the match award against Australia, where he took 3/23 and scored 46 runs.

This was the third edition of the Prudential world cup.
India v West Indies. At Lord's, London on 25 June 1983 (60-overs match)
Result - India won by 43 runs
India wins the 1983 Prudential World Cup
Toss won by West Indies and chose to bowl.
Umpires - HD Bird and BJ Meyer
Man of the Match: M Amarnath who scored 26 runs and took 3/12.

Some interesting fact.
In the Group B match between India and Zimbabwe at Tunbridge Wells, India were struggling at 17/5. Kapil Dev stepped in and hit a majestic 175 not out, which at that time was the highest individual score in an ODI. Unfortunately this innings was not captured on film because the BBC camera crew staffs were on strike that day.

Roger Michael Humphrey Binny was the highest wicket taker in 1983 world cup.In 1983 Cricket World Cup where he was the highest wicket-taker (18 wickets), and in the 1985 World Series Cricket Championship in Australia where he repeated this feat (17 wickets).He was the main bowling spearhead along with Kapil dev and madan lal.

The highest wicket taker in 1983 world cup was Rozer Binny of India who took 18 wickets in 8 matches giving 336 runs. His best figure in the 1983 worldcup is 4/29runs.

He was closely followed by ALF Demel of SrilaNKA & Madan lal of India each by 17 wickets.
The other bowlers were Hedlee-14wickets, Marks-13wickets & Marshal, holding, kapil & Qudir each 12 wickets.

Only Kapil dev & Abdul Qudir had taken a 5 wickets haul in the entire worldcup.
