Sachin Tendulkar now has the highest runs ahead of Lara which is surpassed in the recently concluded 2nd test against Australia.

Sachin now has scored more 12000 runs in test cricket and also surpassed Lara record on 17th Oct 08. Now having 39 hundreds in test cricket and 50 fifties Sachin is still going strong in his carrier and will make a huge bench mark for up coming players to break it.

Lara who was the highest runs scorer till 17 Oct had 11953 runs in Test cricket holded this record for a long time after he went pass Sunil Gavaskar who had 10122 runs under his belt from 125 test matches at an average of 51.

But Sachin has surpassed everyone slowly and steadily has reached the top in both formats of the game and now will it will be a difficult task to break his record. Sachin who has scored these 12047 runs in 152 test matches at an average of 54 is of very high standards which will be difficult to break.

Well Anil, in Test cricket which considered as the purest form of cricket and posses the biggest challenge to a cricketer and specially a Batsman by testing his mantle, temperament, and talent along with application to the hilt has posed the biggest challenge to almost all players along with those who have scored heavily in other formats.

And, in this format the player who holds the record of scoring maximum number of runs in total and also the record of scoring the highest score in an inning is Brian Lara, the retired W. Indian Player, who at one time was the main contender to the Batting throne of World Cricket.

he has 11,953 runs in 232 inns which spanned from 1999 to 2007. And the highest indivdual score by him is 400 not out, against England in St John's in 2003-04 series.

Brian Lara of WI holds this record. He has scored 11,953 rund in his test career...... Next is Sachin who has scored 11857. He is only 76 runs behind him. Sachin can achieve this target in this Test series. Hope so....!

upto now Brain Lara has highest runs in test cricket while in odi sachin has highest runs ...

His first selection for the full West Indies team followed in due course, but unfortunately coincided with the death of his father and Lara withdrew from the team

It was also in 1990 that he made his belated Test debut for West Indies against Pakistan, scoring 44 and 5.

He had made his ODI debut a month earlier against Pakistan, scoring 11. In the 1992 World Cup Lara did well averaging 47.57 with a highest score of 88 retired hurt.

On 19 April 2007 Lara announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket, indicating that the West Indies vs England match on 21 April 2007 would be his last international appearance

Well the highest runs in test cricket belong to Brain Lara who had 11953 runs so far. He is closely followed by Sachin Tendulkar with 11877 Runs. Hence Sachin just need 77 runs to overtake Brain Lara as the maximum run holder in test cricket. Hope he will achieve this mark in the running series against Australia at Bangalore.

The highest Test Score is 400 for Lara where as for Sachin it’s just 248.

Other then Brain Lara and Sachin tendulkar only Alan Border has achieved the 11000 mark.
Rahul Dravid had 10246 & Ponting has 10222 runs that are still playing and over 10000 run mark.
