Melbourne is the biggest cricket stadium in the World. Melbourne Cricket Ground is 8th biggest in the World if all the sports stadiums are taken into consideration. In M.C.G a capacity of 100,012 people can watch the match and next eden gardens, Kolkata...

But latest news is that India, which is co-hosting the cricket World Cup 2011 in alliance with Pakistan and Sri Lanka, is planning to build the world's largest stadium close to Chennai. It is at the Karunkuzhipallam village in Kanchipuram district, 25 km from Chennai where the proposed cricket stadium is likely to be created on a 50 acre plot.

Sources inform that the contractor for the ' ultra modern cricket stadium' will be finalized by the executive committee of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The association will declare the name of this stadium after discussion with the state government. Apart from the size and the seating capacity, another highlight of this stadium will be a retractable roof to save the matches from getting hampered by rain.

This cricket stadium near Chennai will be at par with the international standards, stated TNCA president N Srinivasan. He added that a meeting will be convened by the TNCA on Thursday, where future plans and handing out the construction contract will be finalized. The stadium will have more seating capacity than even the Eden Gardens or the Melbourne Cricket Ground, said TNCA honorary secretary K S Viswanathan.

So, I think India will finally building a stadium which will the biggest in the World..So, until 2011 M.C.G will have the privilege to be number one after that Chennai stadium will become the biggest... :)
