Brian Lara's individual highest score came against Sri Lanka in Sharjah in the year 1995 where he scored a magnificent 169 off 154 balls in which he struck 17 four's and 4 sixes.

Lara has got 30 man of the match awards in ODI's with all the matches being won by West Indies from the year 1991 to 2005 only one match was not won by West Indies in which they lost to Australia. He has 19 centuries in his ODI carrier off 299 matches with ore than 10,400 runs at an average of 40. These numbers are very rare to find and very hard to achieve as well.

Lara was the record holder for the highest number of runs ever scored by a batsman in test cricket until he was surpassed by Sachin Tendulkar on 17 October, 2008. He is widely considered as one of cricket's greatest batsmen.
