There is nothing wrong with the players nor the importance they get. The current hockey administration is personality centered. KPS Gill has been wanting to corner all the glory that tramples over the coach and the players that they don't deliver any glory to share. Dhanraj Pillay was doing so well delivering result but when the media started paying attention to Dhanraj Pillay and attributed the success of the team to him, KPS Gill could not stand it. Ditto for other successful players and coaches. Unless this President of the Indian Hockey Federation quits the scene, nothing can be done to stem the rot. I still do not know why the Govt is doing nothing about it. The Hockey body's autonomy notwithstanding, the Govt has the right to intervene because it is the national pride that is at stake. As Indians, we must hang our face in shame if we can't do anything about it even after failing to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time.
