Every body is talking about this ,but we can't make the judgment after one series,because youngsters also doing bad in test matches.Though they are playing good in one days,but these four are still good in tests.
take the example of last series in australia tehse four performed very well and in Srilanka series laxman and dravid also did well and Ajanat factor affected those.So they may decide which swill be right or wrong.

Guru, Its true that the Fab4 (Sachin, Saurav, Dravid, Laxman) are not in the best of forms and the other players are performing well in their absence. But still experience counts and thats is why Australia is number one in ranking.

If all the 4 well experienced are out in one go Team India might not cope up well in pressure situations. India's recent success was in small format type of games, but in the long version it was the likes of experience which did the trick for Indians. V.Shewag is in full form, R.Dravid, Sachin, Saurav can get their form back and running in no time.

As far as retirement is concern these guys might play for at-least till the 2011 world cup ends. As some where down the line they are still in hunt for the world cup title in their names.

Laxman will always keep his Test carrier in front and as his chances of ODI's are nil.

I THINK THEY SHOULD HAV TAKE RETIREMENT PARTLY AS DRAVID & LAXMAN FROM ODI & SACHIN & SAURAV FROM TEST.. THEN THEY CAN DO BETTER..

no i dont think they should retire because a player shouldnt retire if he doesnt perform in match or a series thats the problem with the indians if one performs they cherish him if he doesnt they criticise them ,i dont think india will win the aussie test series without them,we cant forget the win against them at perth,they should be given a chance in another two series

This question is running in each and every individuals mind. What happened in Sri Lanka has made us believe to some extent that Indian Fab 4 have gone and there is hardly anything in them to show. They were very ordinary throughout the series. A batter like Tendulkar, i think he was the worst batsman of the series and the second rank goes to our Bengal man Ganguly and the third worst batsman was Dravid. That shows what they have done in the last series. I think Sachin and Ganguly should retire from Test once and from all. Dravid and Laxman should be given one more chance. They deserve another go.

No in my opinion it was one of the bad performance because Laxman and Sachin are recovering from serious injuries. Dravid lost is batting form because of the captaincy pressure and Ganguly is also not in good form as well. Selectors should ask these players to participate in Ranji matches instead of taking them straight away in the national side which was big blunder. Anyhow resigning from cricket is personal decision of Sachin, Dravid, Saurav and Laxman and we have no right to comment on that issue. If the above players feel they would like to retire then cricket board should not force them to play. This is first time that all the Fab4 have failed in a series and it is very rare and I hope these players come back strongly to silence the critics...

They should retire when new players have been selected for their vacancies.
They shouldn't leave a hole in the team. Australia is having that problem now. They are looking for a good replacement spinner for Shane Warne. They don't have Macgill in their side now. So the Aussies are struggling in the spin department right now. So the Fab4 should wait a bit longer and when is time, they can hang up their boots

Yes All four including Kumble should retire collectively respectfully after the home series of Australia. Because today they are not playing for India. They are playing for their own records and their survival place in the team. They all had done lot for India, so should be given atleast one more series time to think for them about their retirement. If they donot retire after that series also. Then they should be replaced with young and talented players to win matches. Today in this fast cricket, matches are not win by Old brigade. Young team is required to win matches
