Saurav is a very good player, a great player of our times. But Sachin is a legend in the class of Don Bradman, Gary Sobers, Viv Richards and Brian Lara. It is not that Sachin is a burden to Indian team. Sachin has been a sheet-anchor of Indian cricket for the last 2 decades. Whenever Sachin has failed our batsman have started their march back to the pavilion as if in procession. Even if dada fails the team stands. You may not have noticed this. Even if you ask a child, it will say that Sachin has to announce his retirement. Nobody will dare rest Sachin. He is a colossus.

This is India my friend, where its the emotions that rule the decision and not common sense.
As, even though Sachin comes above on record terms, but if you look at capabilities and the circumstances when the runs were made its clear cut Sourav who excelled.
It was Sourav who top scored even when he was captain, while the famed Sachin faltered completely when he had his stint.
When Sehwag came to scene, it was Sourav who forego his position, while Sachin continued as he faltered again when he was brought down in line up.
But, as the saying goes in India, when the Ship sails it sails to the cloud, while ones it falters it is sunk to the bottom of ocean. Nobody sees the situation the contribution of Sourav and Dravid for the team, while Sachin after being pampered continously continues to remain in the team.
