Paromita, hosting a Olympic event will take a long time for India as India is not even close to be called as a Olympic country as it doesn't participate in many games and more over it doesn't have the grounds where it can hold the events and infrastructure as well.

20 years down the line India will definitely be able to hold a event of Olympics if the management makes the right moves of getting more people involved with the Olympic games and building more ground for the games.
Players are not having enough equipments or are lagging behind in it as its taking time to get it, hence these small things needs to be cleared and made available. Then India can plan to host a Olympic event with some good background in his name and many medals in pockets.

I dont think so that you have put this question correctly because performance and poor display have nothing to do with hosting. India have hosted Commonwealth Games and Asian Games and i think if India can arrange finance for the Olympics than no doubt India can definitely host Olympics. You know India will have its own F1 track and we will be hosting F1 in the year 2010 as far as i know. I think Govt has to play a big role in it plus IOC will also have to come forward. If we all can unite ourself than we can definitely host a successful Olympics. No question about it .

Hey PUROMITA , HOSTING OLYMPICS and PERFORMING WELL IN OLYMPICS have literaly no connection with each other . When INDIAN OLYMPIC ASSOCIATION (IOA) will file bid for hosting OLYMPICS they have to watch on PROPER INFRASTUCTURE , WORLD CLASS FACILITIES and EXCELLENCE IN MANAGEMENT . FINANCIAY IOC will not lack anywhere but No doubt unlike CHINA who is HOSTING as well as LEADING MEDALTALLY INDIA can't perform up to dreamatic level directly but if proper programme of basic structure for diffrent games is founded then INDIAN PLAYERS can compete with world players. While hosting OLYMPICS if INDIA does so it will be great for every INDIAN.

I do not think simply because India is not able to give good facilities for the athletes who represent the country. First of all India need to set some standards in some sports like Shooting, Hockey, Volleyball, Archery, boxing, Badminton,tennis, weightlifting and wrestling. India need to produce good players in the above category every year and maintain a standards. If India starts winning medals then World will automatically look at our country and then if India IOC go for bid of Olympics in India, then India can host the games in style.

abhinav bindra is now an icon. more and more people can take inspiration from him and if even 25% of cricket money is diverted to encourage other sports persons we will produce more and more gold medalist.we are capable of hosting the event. by organising this event lot of infrastructure will come up.
