You are not the first person with this problem. WE take groups to please our parents in India. But the entire life is in front of u. Finish ur BE and take ur degree, work for a few years and save enof money. Meanwhile, keep at ur hobby during free hours.Study direction informally by meeting these people,study movie making with a critics' taste and develop ur knowledge. Interest without knowledge is dangerous. So do as i say and keep low for a few years. If u are truly interested, ur ambition will drag u to ur goal even without u doing anything and opportunities will present itself. Cheers and good luck//

Choosing your career and course is very important. You should have told your dad that you are not interested in Engineering and want to do some film making course from a film Institute. Since you have already enrolled for engg no need to think about that. Gone is gone and dont mess both these together. Try to concentrate on your studies and have fun. You wont get your college days back and this is going to be the most memorable days in your life. Anyways it is never too late and after finishing engg you can earn some money by doing some job and still crazy about film making go and enroll in some film institute. Whatever venture you are into it is very important to have self confidence other wise it will be a disaster.
